Shamanism - Interest and understanding on the rise

When I first “ came out” as a Shaman professionally, there were many who warned me against it! Set up a separate site they said, people won’t understand!

But to be honest I didn’t have the attention span, or the inkling for that! Being a Shaman has long been part of who I am, how I make meaning in the world. Why would I want to hide that?

Now of course, I understand their reasoning. Over millennia there have been concerted, focused efforts to stigmatise Shamanism, and all things nature based. But it is heartening to see minds now opening, as we come home to the reality of what we’ve always known, deep in our beings.

We are nature. And Shamanism is a nature based wisdom tradition. Once we live in a way that is reasonably aligned with that, we thrive. Poisoning nature, poisons ourselves. And vice versa

Shamanism is concerned with energy, and quantum science is catching up with what our Ancestors the world over have always known. While of course I understand the comfort many receive from quantifiable science, for me, there are many ways of “knowing”. Personally, I don’t need to read the scientific papers to know. I know in other ways. My study of Shamanism has helped me understand myself and my own inner experiences in, and with the world, much better than any scientific papers to date. And yes, science is indeed catching up!

As organised religion falls, many people still need frameworks and resource for making meaning in the world. And it is so heartening to hear Irish media and Global Corporates, ask can they include my Shamanic title as they introduce me. I am thrilled that they do, obviously! The interest and understanding is on the rise. Despite all of that deliberate stigmatisation, people are waking up to what they’ve always known. deep within themselves.

I believe that our collective narratives in our shared humanity are similar now, as they were for our ancestors, our tribal brothers and sisters the world over. While some of the nuances have evolved, we are essentially the same. The same people who love, hurt, die, heal, dream. The shared one humanity. Nature.

I passionately believe that leaning into this one shared humanity, and finding healing in Nature, will go a long way to impacting many of the problems that we face today. It is by the very fact that we have ignored our shared humanity and our oneness with Nature, that we are faced with the myriad of crises that we currently face.
